Last week we heard the great news from the NY Times about the impending arrival of Bierocracy, which will be located in the old Jackson Steakhouse space at 12-23 Jackson Avenue. The place has been closed for a while and we’re happy to learn that it will be filled with something new for LIC.
Here’s the blurb from the Times:
BIEROCRACY This aims to be the first of what the owners, who include the Prague-based businessman Marek Chatrny, hope will be a chain of sophisticated, Central European-style beer halls. The number of brews will be limited to ensure freshness. Food will include traditional fare like pretzels and sausage but also unexpected international dishes. (December): 12-23 Jackson Avenue (47th Road), Long Island City.
Looks like the beer hall will have 12,000 square feet to work with. There is no yard, so a Bohemain Hall-style outdoor beer garden will not be in the works. The two floors above of dwellings will remain as they are.
City records indicate the owners are planning to drop over $300K on renovations. We think this is going to be a pretty exciting addition to LIC and can’t wait to see it later this year (or, let’s face it, early 2015).
