Last week I had the pleasure of meeting up with Ovidio Teja, owner of Kitchen Plus More, a shop carrying housewares and hardware in one place. It’s a pretty great addition to the LIC retail scene, since some serious one-stop home repair/improvement/maintenance action can happen there. They carry everything from coffee makers of all kinds to hammers, pots and pans to pillows, spatulas to screws, and much more.
Ovidio has worked with Food Bazaar for many years and is bringing his expertise to this smaller shop across the street. He strives to fill his shop with quality items at an affordable prices, and I think he has managed to accomplish this goal. Things you might have gone to Target or The Container Store for can be found in his independently owned shop.
He is dedicated to the neighborhood and used local vendors/businesses in putting together the physical store, which just amplifies his love of local. Here are some shots from the interior which I hope will help you get a picture of what to expect. He hopes to open in a couple of weeks.
Various wooden bowls.
Looking toward the back of the store.
Pots and pans.
Love these colorful spatulas!
Nice towels in varying thicknesses.
Pillows made in Brooklyn.
Caulk, paint, and more.
Nails, screws, and more.
Hooks and tools.
Hooray for key cutting! Seriously, you can’t have too many places that cut keys.
