After our comprehensive line up of Astoria’s top 10 pizzas, we thought to return the favor over to LIC, as well. There’s so much doughy goodness going on right here (some of it already popular and some still undiscovered) that we thought you should know. What are some of your favorite pizza joints in LIC – shoot us a note, we’d love to know!
Manducatis Rustica - The cozy, comfortable vibe at Manducatis Rustica is the perfect setting for their delicious thin crust, wood fired pizza. We have a special place in our hearts for the Diavola with spicy Italian dried sausage, homemade tomato sauce and black olives, as well as the signature, Rustica (pictured above) with muzz, goat cheese and a generous helping of fresh arugula. 46-35 Vernon Blvd, LIC. 718.937.1312
Manetta’s - A true LIC classic, Manetta’s is the place to go when you want to bite into a crusty, brick oven pizza slice that reminds you of something homey and delicious. We love its fluffy dough that’s modestly painted with homemade cherry tomato sauce and dressed with simple toppings such as buffalo mozzarella, garlic, oregano, mushrooms – and whatever else your heart desires. Even though you can get fancy, the simplest focaccia or the margherita are among our favorites. 10-76 Jackson Avenue, LIC. 718.786.3891
Testaccio - For something with a Roman flair, we recommend Testaccio’s brick oven pizza, baked in a traditional Roman-style oven, which is a thing of beauty. Boasting about a dozen different varieties, we enjoy its thin crust and sophisticated toppings such as black truffles, prosciutto, guanciale, even red onions and tuna! 47-30 Vernon Blvd, LIC. 718.937.2900
Sage General Store – If you like to experiment with non-traditional pizza options, Sage General Store’s got your hookup. Not only do they offer thin tarte flambee style pizza with caramelized onions, bacon and garlic creme fraiche, but also comforting pot roast pizza, fall veggie pizza, even a brunch pizza with fried eggs on top. 24-20 Jackson Avenue, LIC. 718.361.0707
Bella Via – Known for its coal fired brick oven pizza, this LIC mainstay has been serving hungry LICers way before the area became trendy. They don’t hide behind fancy ingredients and let quality and simplicity shine through classic pizza options such as the Marinara, Quattro Stagioni, Prosciutto di Parma and others. 47-46 Vernon Blvd, LIC. 718.361.7510
