One Queens aims to strengthen Queens by galvanizing and equipping its future leaders. You can read their mission statement here. It’s good to know there are people devoting their professional energy to this worthy cause, but there are three ways you (yes, YOU) too can be involved.

APPLY FOR A ONE QUEENS GRANT: If you are the leader of a Queens based organization that focuses on empowering Queens youth and/or young adults, (ages 14-27) consider applying for grant money- up to $5,000. Guidelines, dates and requirements are here. (Deadline April 24, 2015)

BECOME A FELLOW: In partnership with One Queens, The Queens Fellowship is “a 10 month professional development and networking program for non-profit, fath, government and community leaders serving Queens,” says current fellow, Nicole Migliore. One Queens is seeking passionate mid-senior level professionals who care about the future of Queens. The next round of applications begins in May. Details and contact information can be found here.

ATTEND A FUNDRAISING PARTY: Or as I prefer to say- party for a cause. On May 7, attend Ignite Queens  with our borough’s emerging leaders. Enjoy food, drink and performances from all over Queens. Proceeds from the tickets (just $25), will go towards the One Queens Grant Fund. Want to do more? Have your company or business sponsor the event, and in addition to having a great time and supporting a great cause, you can showcase your business with this influential network.

Anyone who cares about the future of Queens can find a way to get involved. Consider your involvement in New York’s largest and most diverse borough and explore all that One Queens has to offer.
